Effective date: 20 October 2026
In short: Sidre collects no personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and the app makes no network requests. Your data is stored only on your device.
1. Data we collect
None. Sidre sends no data to its developer or to any third party. The app has no user accounts, ads, analytics, crash reporting or third-party tracking SDKs, and it does not connect to the internet (it makes no network requests).
2. Data stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following only on your device, in the app's own storage:
- dhikr counters, goals, sequences (wird) and dhikrs you add yourself;
- statistics, streaks and badges;
- profiles and settings (language, theme, sound, vibration, reminders);
- the last location used for the Qibla (see below).
You can erase this data at any time with "Delete all data" in Settings; uninstalling the app also removes it.
3. Location
Location permission is optional and is requested only for the Qibla compass. Your location is used entirely on the device to compute the Qibla direction and the distance to Makkah; it is never sent anywhere. The last location fix is stored on your device so the compass opens quickly next time, and it is removed by "Delete all data". If you do not grant the permission, the rest of the app works normally. In the web demo, location comes from your browser's location permission and is used only in your browser. On iPhone, the browser also asks for access to the motion and orientation sensors for the live compass; compass data never leaves your device either. You can revoke both permissions at any time in the browser's site settings (the lock icon in the address bar).
4. Notifications
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No push server is used, and no data leaves your device for notifications.
5. Backups
- Android: Android Auto Backup is disabled in the app; app data is not backed up to your Google account.
- iOS: if your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup is turned on, app data may be included in your device backup. That backup is kept in your own Apple account or on your own computer according to your settings; we have no access to it.
- Exported backups: a backup file (JSON) you create in Settings is saved or shared only where you choose and remains entirely under your control. The privacy terms of the app or service you share it with apply.
6. Children
Because Sidre collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
7. This website
This site uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. Your language and theme preference is stored only in your browser's local storage. The hosting provider may process standard technical access logs, such as IP addresses, to serve the pages; we do not use these logs. The web demo (/demo/) also loads everything, fonts included, from this site only; it makes no third-party requests. Counters, profiles and the last location used for the Qibla in the demo are stored only in your browser (IndexedDB) and are never sent to us. The demo's Qibla compass may ask your browser for location and, on iPhone, for motion and orientation access; this data is processed only in your browser, is never sent anywhere, and the permissions can be revoked in the site settings.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the current text will be published on this page with a new effective date.

Important notes
- Qibla direction: accuracy depends on your phone's compass (magnetometer) hardware and calibration; magnetic cases, metal objects and electronics can cause deviation. Where possible, verify against a known reference.
- Hijri date: calculated with the tabular calendar and may differ by ±1 day from local moon sighting; it can be adjusted in Settings.
- Recitations: the Arabic audio in the app is machine-generated from the vowelled text and does not apply full tajweed rules. For correct recitation, consult a teacher or recordings by a qari.
- Sidre does not issue religious rulings (fatwas).
